Welcome to the first post on EatExploreDrink.com. I am excited to have you here and invite you to join me on a journey through food, drink, culture, and storytelling. This blog is rooted in my hometown of New York City, with a special focus on Manhattan. From there, we may well explore the neighboring boroughs and nearby cities such as Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC.
The Journey to Starting This Blog
This blog was born from change. Life shifted in unexpected ways, and I found myself living a different life, while learning how to prepare healthy, delicious meals in a small kitchen on a limited budget. The experience taught me that creativity and planning can produce satisfying results, no matter the size of the kitchen or the cost of ingredients.
While I love discovering new restaurants, bars, and cafes, I also find joy in the quiet moments of home cooking. The two experiences may seem different, but both have value. My approach balances exploration with practicality and flavor with simplicity.
Among many early influences, two really shaped my love of cooking and entertaining. In the mid-1970s, I attended a series of culinary demonstrations by Julia Child in Seattle (ourtesy .if my fathe). Around the same time, I discovered Arthur Schwartz’s book Cooking in a Small Kitchen, which helped me feel confident working in compact spaces. Years later, my first apartment in Chelsea had a tiny vertical kitchen, yet it produced some of the best meals of my life. These early experiences continue to influence my cooking style today.
Why I Created EatExploreDrink.com
EatExploreDrink.com is a space to connect, share ideas, and explore stories behind food, drink and exploring the world around us. It is about more than recipes or restaurant reviews. It is about celebrating life through the flavors we enjoy and the people/places we discover.
In the beginning, I hesitated to share personal stories. I was unsure whether my voice would matter. Over time, I realized that honesty builds connection and that sharing my experiences can inspire others to do the same. The process of writing this blog has helped me grow more confident and more connected to the community I hope to build.

Starting the Blog
Building the blog involved learning new skills and overcoming technical challenges, Like building and editing this website. From designing the layout to developing a consistent writing voice, the process is taking time and assistance. Each obstacle became a lesson and each small success felt rewarding. I still have a long way to go. I hope yo will all stay with me.
Writing regularly has helped me refine my voice and become more comfortable with self-expression. I enjoy sharing what I know and learning from others along the way.

Looking Ahead
This is just the beginning. I look forward to expanding this space into a hub for curious minds who love great food and good stories. Whether I am exploring the streets of Manhattan or discovering a new flavor in a small café, I will be bringing you along for the experience.
